With the autumn comes the 3rd annual Top 20 Global Beauty Companies listing, with Procter & Gamble’s beauty business taking the lead, followed fairly closely by L’Oréal. Rounding out the list is Revlon, which is has seen some tough times this year, with the disappointing performance of their baby boomer-targeted Vital Radiance line, layoffs on both the executive and employee levels and corporate restructuring.

As we go to print, I’m preparing to attend the Luxe Pack expo in Monaco, held October 24-27 at the Grimaldi Forum. While not my first time to Luxe Pack nor to Monaco, this will be my first opportunity to visit this particular show and experience the legendary luxury packaging exhibition. Show organizers promise to deliver more this year than ever before. In addition to floor exhibits and conferences, Luxe Pack is introducing a participation-based forum, called Luxe Pack Trends & Market Observer, featuring a panel of industry experts to provide strategic information on trends of the luxury market. Be sure to follow up in the December issue of Beauty Packaging for a recap of the show’s highlights.

Point-of-purchase displays are the topic of Christine Esposito’s “Pop Comes of Age”, and Beauty Packaging’s not-so-long-ago editor Leah Genuario explains all about “Prestige Looks for Mass Markets.”

We hope you enjoy this issue.
